Mele Kalikimaka - From the Garden Island

I had the pleasure of being able to spend Christmas week+ on Kauai with my good friend Kerry and his dog Marley who now live there.

Saltwater - Yum!

I unfortunately arrived with a cold so the first few days were kinda low-key. Mostly we hung around Koloa near where Kerry lives on the South side of the island. Definitely the coolest area in my opinion. It is not as dramatic in beauty as the North Shore or ripe with activities like Wailua and Lihue. With far fewer tourists than some of these other areas, Koloa suited me perfectly. It has a laid back mellow surf vibe, cool little villages and some of the best food on the island.

We spent our first full day exploring the cliffs that rise East from Shipwreck beach and follow the coast alongside Poipu Bay Golf Course. Beautiful scenery and a perfect 67 degrees farenheit.

Marley and Me :)

Marley is in constant motion with the typical irrepressible energy of a 2 year old black lab. Here she photobombs the shot in classic Lab indifference.

Later that evening found us back in the same area enjoying drinks, dinner and Polynesian music at the Hyatt.

Christmas morning we headed back to Shipwreck beach for a relaxing morning swim and lots of fetch. What a perfect way to start Christmas.

We were in such a relaxed mellow state for the rest of the day. Dinner was Fresh Grilled Ahi Steaks back at Kerry's place. Looking forward to the rest of the week here in paradise.
