Hermanus - Day 2

Today was a relaxation day. Well at least relative to the bar I set for Day 1 & 2 in South Africa. Started with a 3 mile stroll down from the B&B to the Cliff Path. I walked a good chunk of this while a waited for the Restaurant that was recommended to me to open for brunch. Simply beautiful. Or as my Spanish speaking friends say tranquilo. Which in my use here means peaceful in English. But in the verb use case - 'don't worry' - also fits very well at the moment.

Bientang's Cave restaurant. Literally a cave that opens to a little Grotto on the rocks kissing the Atlantic. Perfect place for a late brunch. And pretty much the best Eggs Benedict I have ever had and this would have been true regardless of the location.

After Breakfast I decided to drive to the East end of Hermanus where all the white sand beaches are. I settled on Grotto beach a) because it was the most recommended and b) uh, beachside bar, duh? The wind was ferocious and scared most of the sun bathers off, but the kite boarders were coming out in force! I couldn't help thinking of my good kiteboarder friend Dave and how at home he would be here. A mile up and down the beach and then I hit the bar for their State of Mind - think Cape Cod + Triple Sec. I loved the name, but the drink did not disappoint.

With a late afternoon nap and a bath under my belt, it is about time to venture out for dinner on my last night here in Hermanus.

Just an FYI - Bourbon is a rarity here. Was lucky to find a bottle of Woodford in the local Wine Shop. Only Bourbon they have. Apparently they love their wine, Champagne varietals unique to ZA and Brandy - blech!
